Haew Suwat Waterfall: Khao Yai’s Most Accessible Classic

A 25-metre curtain of water dropping into a forest pool — easy to reach by car and one of the most photographed sights in Khao Yai National Park.

Who it suits

Almost everyone: families, older travellers and photographers. The main viewpoint needs only a short walk; the walking trail suits reasonably fit visitors.

How to get there

Enter the park from the northern gate and drive to the visitor centre, then follow signs about 10 km to Haew Suwat. There is no public transport inside the park, so come by car, with a driver or on a tour.

Walkers can take Nature Trail No. 2 from Pha Kluai Mai (about 3 km, around two hours). Register at the visitor centre before trekking.

Best time to visit

The falls are most powerful in the rainy season (June–September) and just after. The cool season (October–February) brings clearer weather and busier weekends; arrive early for quieter moments.

Check before you go

  • Current park opening hours, fees and any trail or site closures on the official park website
  • Rocks near the pool are slippery — wear shoes with grip
  • Leeches are common on trails in the wet season
  • Swimming rules can change; follow signs and ranger instructions
